About Susan Helgeson

Photography is my passion and career.

I first fell in love with photography while attending the Academy of art in San Francisco, and being a romantic at heart with a fine art background, wedding and portrait photography was a natural choice.

I have been photographing weddings in Santa Cruz for over fifteen years and love capturing the unique spirit and richest moments of each Central coast wedding.
I am known for my photo journalistic style, sensitive, romantic portraits and fun filled candids.

My background in fine art gives me an eye for beautiful light, composition, and all the details that make up a wedding or portrait.

I have been told I have a gift for making people feel at ease with a special affection for children. I never over-direct you to recreate a moment, but capture you and your guests' true emotions, without monopolizing your time. I limit the number of weddings I photograph each year so I am always fresh at your wedding.

I work with an assistant who is also an excellent photographer and we work as a team using color, black and white or sepia film to capture your day.
